Pros: Huge World, Great Story, Great Characters, Lots to Do
I have played a lot of video games in my lifetime. I have never played a game like GTA 5 before though. I have to say that after completing the main story I felt like a criminal because the game is so vulgar and explicit that it might as well ended up at an adult novelty store. The three main protagonists were extremely well thought out and each had there respectful place in the world. They each come from their own demographic and upbringing background and you feel that as you get into the game more and more. The game was so big that I wished I could just be imported into the world because it was going to take so much time to do everything that I wouldn't have a life (joking about this of course). This GTA game still has the feel of its predecessors, but adds a gluttonous amount of extras that were not included in previous GTA games. For example, there are now two stock markets that you can buy and sell on in the game. Different events in the game affect how the stock market can fluctuate. There are tons of weapons, upgrades, npcs, tanks, helicopters, motorcycles, cars, jets, the list goes on and on. And yes, you can use all of them if you can get your hands on them. Pissed off at the world, go to the military base and show them you mean business. Go purchase a heavy armor from the gun shop, get in that favorite car of yours, and have at all of them. Steal a fighter jet and park that baby in your hanger for future use. Want to go scuba diving, have at it. Wang to go skydiving, happy free falling. Want to run over a pedestrian. Well have it, but maybe reconsider. RockStar has created a legacy with this game for sure.
The only two complaints I have about this game is the multiplayer component that was implemented into the GTA series. I was so excited when I found out that you could play with other people in the game and explore and do things together. What stopped my excitement was that I found out it was not connected to your single player game. Let me tell you and this is in conjunction with the second disappointment, the money making element. Money is actually quite hard to make in this game in the scheme of things, due to the fact that purchasing things in the game are sometimes very expensive. I found out that you cannot earn money in multiplayer that translates over to your single player account. So once your done beating the main story and side quests of the main game, do you really expect to make that much more money without spending the rest of your life playing the game? It would have been a nice touch to have those earnings playing with friends to do heists transfer to your single player game so you can afford those luxuries. It is was it is, still a great game.
