Pros: Scent-free, goes on well, absorbs very quickly.
Cons: The texture is a little hard to take.
This is a new type of moisturizer for me. The good news is that it absorbs quickly, it's unscented and the price was right. I had the opportunity to try a pricy name brand cosmetic product for free. Clinique was recently one of about a dozen cosmetic companies involved in a lawsuit. The settlement meant that those of us who'd bought from these companies were entitled to a free make-up item. Clinique, which used to be the only "make-up counter" company I'd buy from (I've since discovered E.L.F. and some other on-line shops) offered a one ounce jar of their "moisture surge" and I went for it. I've reached the "I need facial moisturizer" age and I assume anything Clinique makes is worth a try.
I already use a Clinique's turnaround concentrate that I love, because it absorbs so quickly. But I began using it regularly as it seemed that the winter weather and the drying use of indoor heat was making my skin drier than I was used to. And the concentrate is, for my budget, ridiculously expensive. But Clinique's standard "dramatically different" moisturizer does not seem very "different" to me. It does not absorb quickly and seems like any other standard lotion. So bring on the new stuff.
The new stuff is a sort of gel in a little jar. It takes getting used to. It feels, um, weird. Gooey. Slimy. Not at all like a lotion, as I expected.
I don't know how one can really judge if a moisturizer works. I don't have before and after pictures to offer. I do know that it goes on lighter and faster than I expected and absorbs. I expected a little, I don't know, gooeyness? But it's okay. I'm adjusting. I can manage with any number of scented products on my hands (there was a time when I responded badly) but I still prefer Clinique on my face - why take the risk?
A teeny bit spreads and you're done. I expect this one ounce jar, which I've been using for several weeks, will last for months. I still think I'd prefer a more liquid moisturizer, but we'll see. Maybe by the time I reach bottom, I'll have fabulous skin that makes me look 20 years younger. Even if I don't, it's an easy open jar, which in part means i will use it all up (none of that hassle getting the last of the moisturizer out of the pump bottle or tube), it's from a company I've trusted for decades and it goes on light and spreads well.
