Pros: Time saver & smell reducer... when it feels like working.
Cons: Malfunctions and needs deep cleaning by hand once a month.
I've owned my Cat Genie for about 8 months now. I works decently for a machine, but often does not completely clean the bowl and rather makes "Poo soup" while cleaning; Leaving a fresh bowl with many mini turds left behind. About once every month I have to deep clean (with my own hands -yuck!) or take it apart because it is malfunctioning in some kind of way. I have 3 cats so it does save time and reduces the smell..... kind of. I can't set mine to automatic cleanings because during each clean the Cat Genie leaves a chalky film in the air and fills my house with a heavy chemical smell (I have the "Fresh Scent" sani-solution). I can't clean my Cat Genie when I am sleeping or out of the house because chances are it will not drain the water. I've had my cats poop on my clothes and various other items because of this water issue mine seems to ALWAYS have.
All in all it is worth it, but I also live with some extremely lazy people, so it is worth the extra cleaning and malfunctions for me, but I probably wouldn't reccomend to someone who has a lot of free time to scoop poop and/or hangs out in their house a lot since the smell it leaves lingering is horrid.
